How to reference a book

In the text

Author's surname (year) states that...

"Quotation" (Surname(s), Year, Page)

Example

Rees and Smith (2014) state that...

"Doctors realized that pharmacists had many possible additional clinical roles in primary care, beyond their traditional community pharmacy premises" (Rees and Smith, 2014, p.12)

In your bibliography

One author

Surname, Initials. (Publication year in round brackets) Book title - italicised. [Online - if ebook] . Edition - unless first. Place of publication: Publisher.Series and volume number if applicable.

Two/three authors

Surname, Initials. Surname, Initials. and Surname, Initials.

Four plus authors

Surname, Initials. et al.

For books which are edited give the editor(s) surname(s) and initials, followed by (ed) or (eds).

Rees, J. A. and Smith, I. (eds) (2014) Pharmaceutical Practice. 5th edn. Edinburgh: Churchill Livingstone Elsevier
